With the 1997 Sundance Film Festival less than two months away, all packages
are already sold out for this year. However, you may still purchase individual
tickets to screenings and panel discussions. Here's how:
Individual tickets sales begin on January 10 at 9:00am M.S.T. You may order
up to twenty tickets with a credit card by calling (801) 322-1700. However,
you should know what tickets you would like before you call. Please call
the Sundance Institute, (801) 328-3456, for a '97 catalog with screening
times and dates. These will be mailed out on approximately December 15.
If the screening is sold out by the time you call, there are other ways
to get tickets. If you can get to Park City and find a place to stay, each
morning at 8:00am a limited number of tickets are released for that day's
screenings. The box office is located in Park City on the corner of Heber
Avenue and Swede Alley.
You can also play the waiting-list game. One hour before screenings, theaters
sell waiting-list tickets (refunds are given if you don't get in). Virtually
every screening is able to accommodate at least ten people from the waiting
list, due to no-shows. Larger theaters (such as the Egyptian, the Library
Center, and the Prospector) can handle more "players", so your
best bet is at those screenings.
Although purchasing individual tickets is not as convenient as having a
package, it does enable one to see quite a large number of films. And of
course if you can't get in to anything you have a good excuse to go skiiing
instead.
