Not amazing and not much of an adventure. This story of a pre-teen (Ryan Slater, Christian's little brother) who sets out to rescue a panda cub from poachers tries to pass itself off as "Free Willy" with fur. Unfortunately, it's seriously hampered by one-dimensional characters, a lumpy script and a fake panda (for close-ups) that looks like a puppet with a prop man's arm inside it. Shot on-location in the jungles of China, the movie does benefit from an exotic locale as well as black-and-white star who's as photogenic, in her way, as Garbo. But "Panda' is more well-intentioned than well-done. For younger kids only.
