THEODORE WITCHER (Writer/Director) is a filmmaker currently living
in Los Angeles. A native of the greater Chicago area, Witcher graduated
in 1991 from Columbia College's film school in Chicago.
Upon completing Columbia, Witcher worked in various capacities on independent
films and then at NBC's local Chicago station on "The Jerry Springer
Show." Not long after, he moved to Los Angeles to write for Caravan
Pictures and the Hughes Brothers.
love jones marks Witcher's feature film directorial debut. "The overriding
political belief when I was in film school was an anti-Hollywood one,"
says Witcher, "and I talked more shit than anybody. So for me to wind
up as a Hollywood director is the mother of all ironies!"
NICK WECHSLER (Producer) is the co-founding partner of Addis/Wechsler,
one of the most prestigious production management companies in the world.
Addis/Wechsler represents actors, writer and directors including such actors
as Samuel L. Jackson, Richard Dreyfuss, Cameron Diaz, Leonardo DiCaprio,
Jack Lemmon, Christine Lahti, Jeff Goldblum and directors Alfonso Arau,
Vincent Ward and Jonathan Kaplan.
Wechsler's producing credits include the critically acclaimed sex, lies
and videotape, Drugstore Cowboy, The Player, The Rapture, The New Age, Little
Odessa and The Journey of August King.
JEREMIAH SAMUELS (Producer) started his career in New York as a unit
production manager. After moving to California, he produced The Red Coat,
written and directed by Robin Swicord for Buena Vista Pictures, and Mr.
Payback, written and directed by Bob Gale for Sony Pictures, which is also
the first studio-produced interactive theatrical motion picture. He was
also a co-producer for The Winner, the most recent film by Alex Cox starring
Vincent D'Onofrio and Rebecca De Mornay.
Samuels has also served as a unit production manager on Matilda directed
by Danny De Vito, Last Man Standing directed by Walter Hill for New Line
Cinema and The Night We Never Met which was directed by Warren Leight for
Miramax Films.
JULIA CHASMAN (Executive Producer) started her motion picture career
as a reader at Twentieth Century Fox, following her graduation from the
UCLA Film School.
As development executive at Rollins-Joffe Productions, she developed the
Orion comedy Arthur, starring Dudley Moore.
Chasman also produced the motion picture, Shag, for Hemdale Films starring
Bridget Fonda, Phoebe Cates, Page Hannah and Annabeth Gish.
As vice president of production for Universal Pictures, Chasman supervised
the production of Mad Dog and Glory, directed by John McNaughton, and developed
the adaptation of Richard Price's novel Clockers for Martin Scorsese and
Spike Lee.
She was the executive producer of The Perez Family, starring Marisa Tomei,
Anjelica Huston, Alfred Molina and Chaz Palminteri.
At Addis/Wechsler & Associates, Chasman is executive vice president
of production. She supervises all development and production of the company's
feature projects.
Veteran television cameraman ERNEST HOLZMAN (Director of Photography)
makes his feature film debut on love jones.
A graduate of New York University's Institute of Film and Television in
1974, Holzman went on to study at the Center for Advanced Film Studies at
the American Film Institute.
As assistant cameraman Holzman enjoyed a working relationship with Jordan
Cronenweth on Blade Runner (his first film job) and Stop Making Sense.
He has shot music videos for Rod Stewart, Dave Matthews and Olivia Newton-John.
Holzman was director of photography on the acclaimed ABC series "thirtysomething"
and "My So-Called Life."
MAYSIE HOY (Editor) started her career working with director, Robert
Altman as an assistant film editor on such films as Buffalo Bill and The
Indians, Three Woman and A Wedding. She co-edited Hollywood's much talked-about
look at itself, The Player, and has most recently worked with Wayne Wang
on the critically acclaimed Smoke and The Joy Luck Club.
