Would you agree to let your son die if he went on a hunger strike for his beliefs? Would you go against his beliefs and save his life even though it meant the defeat of the cause he was willing to die for. Such is the dilemma facing Kathleen Quigley and Annie Higgins, two Irish mothers during the 1981 hunger strike protest, in Northern Ireland, led by Bobby Sands. The two reluctant companions hold the fate of their grown son - and the fate of the cause their sons are willing to die for - in their hands. They journey through war-torn streets of Northern Ireland to the corridors of power in London, as they battle to save the lives of Sands and his fellow hunger strikers. And as the clock ticks away on their children's lives, they prepare to face the parent's nightmare, whether to let their sons live or die.
