Luther Whitney rests comfortably at the top of his very exclusive profession - a career thief who specializes in burglarizing the rich and famous. After much painstaking research, Luther sets out his next job, the mansion of an elderly millionaire and his decidedly younger wife. Luther easily defeats the sophisticated security system and heads to the secret vault in the master bedroom and loots the safe of cash, bonds and jewelry. The thiefs well-laid plans go awry when a drunken couple, the woman of the house and her illicit lover, stumble into the bedroom. Hidden from sight, Luther witnesses a perverse scene of sadism that leads to murder. Luther narrowly escapes but becomes the subject of an intense manhunt launched by powerful forces who value his silence more than his life.
