
THE 1996 SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL PROGRAM
The Festival opens on January 18 in Salt Lake City with the U.S. Premiere
of Kenneth Branagh's A MIDWINTER'S TALE.
On January 19, opening night in Park City presents Hal Hartley's three-part feature FLIRT.
Robert Young's CAUGHT starring Edward James Olmos and Maria Conchita Alonso will be presented
on January 24.
One-hundred seventeen feature films and fifty-seven shorts will be presented
primarily in Park City, Utah from January 18-28, 1996. Overall, 55 World
Premieres and 32 U.S. Premieres will be screened. In addition to the Independent
Feature Film Competition and the American Spectrum, the Festival will present
a selection of premieres and international features, and a special tribute
to Hollywood maverick William Wellman along with the U.S. Premiere of the
documentary WILD BILL, chronicling his career. Dianne Wiest will be honored
for her artistic contribution to independent cinema.
