"Four Rooms" had such an interesting genesis that it is almost
easy to forgive the outcome. Four of today's hot young directors - Quentin
Tarantino, Robert Rodriquez, Allison Anders and Alexandre Rockwell - decided
to do a movie in which each would work independently with only one unifying
character, the bellhop in a hotel. Everyone wanted to be in it and a lot
of people go there, including Madonna, Antonio Banderas, Marisa Tomei and
Tim Roth as the unenviable bellhop. "Four Rooms" never lives up
to the hype and should discourage the directors from working together again.
