Steve Martin reprises his role as George Banks, the eponymous Dad that remakes
the "Father'S Little Dividend" that followed the success of the
original 1950 "Father Of The Bride". You see, Spencer Tracy originated
the role and it was such a success that a sequel was made. And now, since
Hollywood loves a sure thing, the original cast of the remake including
Diane Keaton as the mother of the bride and Kimberly Williams as the bride
has been reassembled. It is sort of fitting because everything in this
is predictable, including a way to get Martin Short, who produced the wedding
in the first movie, back into the scene. But that doesn't make it any less
enjoyable!! Steve Martin and Diane Keaton are icons of the boomer generation
and it is fun to watch them talk about menopause and aging. That sounds
contradictory, but it isn't. Just go and be prepared to laugh. Oh yeah,
and the plot, in case you haven't figured it out, is about what usually
follows weddings... babies.
